New NVIDIA drivers on 2.4 kernel??
I experienced this bug in the NVIDIA drivers designated version 1.0-1251 The newest drivers are ok for me on one machine, but _absolutly_ unuseable on another (X11 locks completely when logging out in runlevel 5). My NVidia runs without any problems, only the console doesn't work. I'd say it's the NVidia driver

When I go to windows update site, there is Nvidia Display Driver Version 4.0.7.2 that I can download. I did download this update - it change all the font size on my computer, it was really big, there was some other changes also, I could not figure out how to change things back, so I uninstalled this update.

I have a Micron Millennium Max GS 133 667mhz PC with Nvidia GeForce 256 Classic OEM and Aureal 2500Q sound card. What I've always done with drivers is to download them to the desktop. Then I go into add remove and remove NVIDIA DRIVERS. I select display drivers ONLY since I have chipset as well for the board. Then I remove them. Before rebooting I go back into explorer and delete the NVIDIA file from the bar.

Nvidia driver component problems
graphics/libGL was already installed, feeling redundancy kicking in I decided to give in for a "registered" install of the nvidia-drivers, I deinstalled libGL and fired up make install from nvidia-driver directory again. After that, the driver successfully installed itself and I'ma happy happy camper.
